Headlamp Lens Removal Pictures

Following on from Mike's post, I had a go at this today and have taken some pics to illustrate.
Once the plastic cover is removed you can see three of the four clips from above (circled in red). Release these gently with a wide flat screwdriver. The fourth clip can be seen from underneath,
Then gently pull forward and the lens will come off...
...still attatched to the interior surround trim.
The glass itself is glued/bonded to the plastic but the rubber trim surrounding it also comes off seperately. The interior silver trim is seperate from the outside plastic. Once the glass is removed, will be easy to change or paint should you want the 'facelift look'.

Thats tempting what paint would be needed, that question is directed to experianced painters here, because I wouldn't need a facelift look for 3 weeks and then a cracked paintjob look for the rest.

John, you will need a can of car spray in either gloss or satin black, a small one will be enough, I used an acrylic, and some 800 grit or finerwet/dry paper for flatting the lense, also you will need some silicone or windscreen adhesive for the glass replacement, I used black silicone from a Upvc window supplier, This cost me about £2 for the silicone and £5 max for the spray.
If anyone is going to do this mod i would advise you to do it when the warmer wheather comes along as without facilities for spraying you will get bloom on the paint and this will spoil the look,you need that finish perfect for a good look.

You need to go to Staples and get yourself a bag of red elastic bands, small,medium or large depending on how many and what size you require.

headlight's received from ford parts,old ones off and new ones on,looking good with some piccies to follow
paul,it really is not that bad,the worst clip of all is the one in the bottom corner of both headlights,easy to get off,but a bit of a s**t to get back on,however when all is said and done,does tend to make it all worth it....

Hmmm - May have to order a pair myself - Trying to keep up with the Craigses
Just put a rather nice Upswept twin exhaust trim on and some crystal side repeaters with blue lenses (obviously I change these to amber every time I take it on the queens highway)

cheers baz...
must admit,living 5 minutes up the road from street (clarkes/leather etc.etc),took the wheel into 1 of these leather places,and for the princely sum of £15.00,they totally renovated it for me,honestly,looks like new now
money well spent
even if the wife does not agree
