Have just brimmed the car for the second time and worked out the fuel consumption. Have managed 29.5m.p.g. is this right for a M plate 2.5 diesel?

Hi Neil l get slightly better than that on mixed road conditions, 34 MPG on M-way stuff (Auto Estate). My '94 manual Grannie Scorpio Estate used to get 35 MPG on mixed, 39 on M-way, 43 in holiday mode, so you don't sound far out if the car is newish to you. Brian

'95 2.5tdi 170k Hi, I think your @30mpg is good compared to mine. Around the city I'm getting under 25mpg which after 6 months of ownership is worrying, that is, it is not a one off reading. On the motorway however 35+mpg is normal for me whether I'm fully loaded or not. It seems our cars when new, benefitted from diesel 8-10p per litre less than petrol. Unless you run yours on a vegetable oil mix in summer......shhhhh, then it's not cheap to run!

Neil Sounds familiar....just re brimmed my 1995 M Estate 2.5, 155k, 29mpg. Mixture of around town, motorway in queues, ticking over for hours on end sorting temp gauge and a couple of 80ish mph motorway trips. I'll see what I get next, expecting approx 35mpg on long trips and 27ish round the houses. Paul

i have a petrol 2.3 ultima, and my fuel consumption is what i regard, fairly heavy. i get around 29 - 31 on a run, and 22 - 26 around town, depending on how heavy i am on my right foot! i am a taxi driver, and its nothing like my last car, skoda octavia tdi 130 , which was diesel, and did around 55 - 60 on a run, and 30 - 38 around town, but i MUCH prefer my scorpio!!
