Stumped??? Best engine oil for 2.3 auto???

After reading through the engine spec page on the main Scorpio site I'm a little confused as to what would be the best grade engine oil for my 98 auto estate Obviously it would be semi synthetic but would it be: 15w40 10w30 10w40 5w50 5w40 5w30 The list recommends these depending upon the ambient temperature, which the UK seems to fit into most "ish". Would I have to buy Magnatec or Halfords own semi synthetic, or should I buy direct from my local "fiendly" Ford dealer? Normally I would go down the "Halfords own" road, but as the Scorpio is new to me and I want to maintain it in the best possible way, I feel I should check before throwing just "anything" into it! Also-can I rely upon Halfords for their oil and air filters etc, or again, would it be best to buy from Fords? Any info, as always, would be greatly appreciated. Wayne

hi there should be SAE 5W-30 oil for the 2.3 using a ford or good quality filter. best oils i've used with mine so far (30k) are ford formulaE(at least £20+) and currently Croma X-Tech(£16) which i rate highly. http://www.commaoil.com/ hth ps. tried the halfords SAE 5W-30 oil. don't rate at all, imo!

Thanks scorpio_man, Went to Halfords today and had a closer look at their oils-the 5w-30 was on special. 1/3 off making it about £13.00 IIRC. It was sold out so I didn't have to worry. I saw the Magnatec (£25.00) and almost bought that but couldn't remember what requirements the oils have to meet so held back. The Croma X-tech looks like a good 'un, but how do I go about ordering from the website in the link you left? I've never seen that brand before but wouldn't mind getting my hands on some. Thanks again, Wayne
