Hi, I noticed that this switch keeps flashing when i am driving the car and it seems to pull the gas pedal back, I press the switch to stop it from doing this but then the light stays on but the car drives ok, is it ok for me to press the switch so the light stays on or not? Also when running round town (not long journeys) does it save fuel having the overdrive on or off? Its a 2.9 scorpio cosworth 24v, thanks for any help

hi there the ltcd light flashing is the system being activated because the rear wheels are slipping (worn tyres or too heavy a right foot on wet roads will do this). if it dry etc, then you might have a system fault, but normally the abs is playing up at the same time. if you switch off the tcs (light on it the dash), then you don't have any traction control. re the o/d. i'd leave it on (default) unless your in a hilly area where the 'box is changing down from top gear all the time. hth

I had this and it was beleive it or not the front right wheel, had put the spare on which was smaller (think it is meant to me) anyway caused the throttle to be acting like yours. New tyre fitted problem gone.

hi there the traction control uses inputs from all wheels in it's calculations. it can tell which wheel(s) is slipping and will put the brake on (and pull back the throttle) the correct (rear)wheel to correct it (if you're lucky). imo, the best traction control is your right foot.

Does it do it constantly Alan or just now and again? My sister borrowed the 24v once and brought it back saying there was something wrong with it because when she pulled away there was a yellow light flashing!! If its on constantly then check your tyres as mentioned, sizes, pressures etc, you should be running 205's or 225's on a 24v I did drive one on 195's once and it was a very easy to get the TC to kick in Does your ABS light come on at all?

Does it do it constantly if you DONT press the button? As Andrew said, once you press the button you are turning the traction control off so it will run ok as it is now disabled. The problem is when the traction control is enabled. Does your ABS light show at any time?

So most of the time but not all the time? How did you get on with the tyres? Is it a new car to you or have you had it a while? Has it just started doing this? Have you had any work done on the car prior to this happening?

Check all four of your tyre pressures. Check all four tyre sizes. Barring a wiring or module fault i cant think what else could operate the TC but not the ABS (does your ABS light come on with the ignition then go off)?

Have just checked the tyres, they are all 225/16 R50 but the front drivers side and the back passenger side are ZR ones, i have had these tyres on since i bought the car but only had the problem last 3 mths? The ABS light comes on as normal with all the ignition lights then goes off, thanks
