Glove box light

I found a problem with the glove box light yesterday, as it was on all the time, perhaps this was helping to my battery going flat over a couple of weeks where the car is not being used at the moment. I only found this by chance when i had the radio out, as you can't see if it is on with the front shut. I know this won't be a problem to anyone using thier car daily but it is just another niggly problem that can be solved if you adjust the catches on either side of the box if it is loose when you push on the front.

And now for a silly question: Where is the golvebox light bulb? Mine went a few weeks ago but this morning when I looked for it, I couldn't find it Huh It doesn't appear to be in the handbook either.

The bulb holder is mounted in the catch itself.

I have a feeling it's the switch, Richard. Either way, I should find it quick enough. It's funny how I never copped on to where the light in the glovebox was being emitted from when it was working!!!

You don't have a glovebox light Derekne? Surely that is standard. How does one find items in one's glovebox when it is not illuminated Huh

I removed the bulb from my Glovebox, also from the boot
just to see if the needle flick stopped, low and behold
the needles have stopped flicking from nearly every day to now and again.
I was told i had a voltage drop of about 10amps
Radio? Clock? Flicking needles! could be battery on it's way out / so i did the things above .
That was just over eight and a half months ago
Sfrange cars these Scorps eh!!

The Bulb is there in my scorp glove box. After hunting around with a tourch I found it. As you said its behind the glove gromet switch. I found the wires first. I cheeted and used a mirrow to see up over. Once I new where it was. I got a thin flat screwdriver. Carefully I prised out the gromet switch and holder. Its very easy to do. The hole thing just pops out. Then you have the hole thing in your hand. Its a d**n site easyer then doing it from behind the trim. I havent a clue how anyone could do it without taking it out. It must take ages. Grin
Well off for my new bulb tomorrow.
For reference wile I have it in my hand heres a couple of details about the bulb.
T4W MOTORCRAFT
12V 4W
(E1)2BU France.
It should be a bayonet fitting.
Hope any of this is helpfull.
Regards.......
