Hi all

Well, Im sorry to say my Cossie got written off last Friday.

Traffic Jam on the M6 just south of Corley Services, came to a stop about 6' behind a Corsa then BANG.....

and CRUNCH..... pushed into the Corsa and smashed up the offside front area.

Kid in a silver Saxo had hit the rear right hand side, still doing about 55mph.

Said he'd got no brakes, no brains more like.

Still he did the decent thing with his insurance company and admitted liability.

So Someone on here is looking for a good engine, someone else for a good gearbox, both only done 58k

Loads of other stuff must be ok.

I'm going to ask the insurance co for a full full refund of what I paid for it but if anyone can use the bits we could do a deal that I buy it back and sell it for breaking.

Don't know what I'll get next. That'sthe second Cossie I've had written off whilst being stopped on a motorway.

Regards to all

This is a great site with the most help I've seen on vehicles.

Hi

No the Saxo was totalled. The radiator ended up about 6 inches from the windscreen. I don't know how the kid got out uninjured.

I suppose that says something about the crumple zone technology in modern cars although a 'y' reg Saxo is hardly modern ! Still, it's good that no one was injured because who can honestly say they've never made a driving error ?

May be interested in the box if the price is ok and your location suits...
Also the drivers fuse box.

The saxo is probably lucky you stopped short, the distance will have acted as a break before the second impact that probably would have killed him if you were 1' instead of 6. Always leave a good gap untill they are well bunched up behid you Wink

Hi Wickedteen, Baz and Cossieguy

Thanks for the PMs.

I don't know how much the insurance are going to pay but I guess if they offer the full price I paid 4 weeks ago I'd have to take it.

I won't have anywhere to break it and I'm moving soon to the south west so it will have to go to someone who has got space enough to dismantle it.

I need the money out of it to buy a new vehicle but if anyone wants me ask the insurance how much they want for it I will. I can put you in touch with them if you wish.

If anyone does want it for spares it's a silver ultima, no rust, 4 good doors don't ask about the boot and bonnet ! Leather interor all elctrics were working without problem. Engine and gearbox fine. done 58k miles.

Let me know and call me on 07738 974 662 if you want to find out about the insurance co or what

Best regards

Tony

Best of luck Tony, all I can say mate Smiley

At least you got out of it uninjured, losing your car is better than ending up in hospital or worse.

FAO Tony and anyone looking for gearbox etc, This car is at Motor services in Redditch 0152766382 from Monday 19th Feb. I've bought the engine as my car is still off the road, the car hasn't been touched yet(Apart from the crash!) so gearbox is still on it.

Hello
Pleased you are ok.
4 months ago I was slowly going around a medium size round abt. When a car came flying over infront of me from the left. He aparently didnt see me .He didnt even stop before flying across. I stammped on brakes (ABS) and tried to steer away.
Unfortunately I couldnt avoid him.
I hit his rear drivers side bumper.  It split my bumper my indicator headlights. So on friday just gone wins solicitors. Got my car totaly renuewed at the front. Brand new bumper lights the lot. At my local garage.
Unfortunately it has to all go to court. To see who will pay for this. As he isnt exepting blame. Huh

Guy....

Here's your engine!! Good job I turned up when I did, I think they would have put the blow torch on it and cut the bloomin thing out otherwise!!

I hope your hoses and wiring looms are OK as well

Got the back door, although there are a few rust bubbles which need to be soretd before I can fit it, plus the bloke at the yard decided to put it on its bottom edge on the floor then drag it a bit.... a few chips to sort too!! Other than that, it is dent free which is the main thing and unlike mine!

Baz
A few more pics of what is left......

Baz, they obviously waited for you to turn your back before cutting off the engine loom  Angry Rather than just unplugging the d**n thing and leaving it, they cut it as close to the engine as they could!
Have sent it back to them and asked for a refund. I wasn't prepared to pay to have it swapped over from my engine(It's not straight forward).
Bloody annoyed as I rang them and asked them to be especially careful not to damage the loom! So that's 2 engines I've got in now that have had loom damage so have been no good. Have had to put the original engine back in as I can't go without a car any longer.
I'm on the look out for an engine so if anyone knows of a good low mileage engine PLEASE let me know. (No loom damaged ones though!)
Guy.
