Headlight Washer Covers
« on: Jun 22nd, 2010, 5:45pm » |

First attempt at the headlight washer covers today, did it by hand and its a bit rough but VERY pleased with the result! I used a prefacelift one as its easier but intend to make all three types. Cut to shape from black perspex and tapered the edges. Once I get a program written for the CNC router the tapered edges will be as smooth as the top and can be polished to the same finish. I would expect the finished article will be almost indistinguishable from the original Not had a look yet but i suspect they can be glued directly to the top of the washer as the underside is just flat but may can make some sort of attachment later on.

Yay They can be glued - the clips broke on one of my ones and I simply superglued it in place - stayed on (except when someone reversed into the bumper ). The bend on the very late ones could be a challenge

Or if it's a 6 axis router that you got, you could make a male and female mould. Heat the routered part up then mould it to shape........... Just a thought....

Looks like the heat gun is the way to go to add the facelift "angle" does anyone have the earlier facelift covers with the corner cut out they could give me a rough measurement of?
