Title: Re: maf Post by gozz on Oct 14th, 2008, 8:19pm deconick. I got one for a 2.3 from Ebay, new pattern part for about £40.Scour the Scorpio parts, they are nearly always on there. If I come across the name I will let you know.Incidentally it did work. GOZZ |

Title: Re: maf Post by scorpio_man on Oct 14th, 2008, 8:24pm hi there for reference, the 2.9 24v MAF is different. it bolts on and is, i think, a bit larger. hth |
Title: Re: maf Post by gozz on Oct 14th, 2008, 8:30pm scorpio_man. That's right, the 2.3 one fits the Galaxy as well,so is obviously popular just now,but the Cossie is indeed a seperate animal,a pity that ! GOZZ. |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 14th, 2008, 8:51pm cheers gozz & scorpio man, so its got to be the right one or are they the same but with different fittings |
Title: Re: maf Post by gozz on Oct 14th, 2008, 9:08pm deconick. Unfortunately not,as scorpio man says the 2.9 is definitely bigger, because the Cossie needs bags of wind ! Does it have to be new ? there are a fair few used ones about,no doubt Highlander has a dedicated 24v MAF shelf ;D GOZZ. |

Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 14th, 2008, 9:19pm yeah your right maybe that a second hand will do cheaper the better, cos im still trying to cure this o/d flashing light problem, ive done the auto box fluid flush and filter change but light still comes on |
Title: Re: maf Post by Highlander on Oct 15th, 2008, 12:49am is the OD light flashing constantly? |
Title: Re: maf Post by martin_rowe on Oct 15th, 2008, 8:37am New MAF for 24v is very expensive circ £175 as they only fit that vehicle, have a couple of sh ones if you are interested. |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 15th, 2008, 5:16pm hi chaps the o/d light flashes somtimes also runs a bit sluggish sometimes and othertimes goes like a bat out of hell so i dont know. |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 15th, 2008, 5:20pm oh when the o/d light flashes i just pull over and switch of the engine and start again then off we go every thing ok |
Title: Re: maf Post by Jonnycab on Oct 16th, 2008, 3:23am Seeing as the O/D light is illuminated by the PCM because it detects an error, could it be that the PCM is causing the car to go sluggish because it has received an error code from the fully electronic autobox ? It's all here.......http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/odlight.htm Or it could actually be a fault in the PCM :-/.......I seem to remember reading that Ford do have there fair share of problematic engine management modules & the Scorpio PCMs were no exception :) |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 16th, 2008, 6:11pm well chaps today i unplugged the maf and drove my the usual way to work and the o/d light did not flash at all, gear change was smoother too, plus cleaned maf with carbclean but the two wires stay dull not nice and shinny so i will be off to get a new maf at a small cost of £110.or i might try one of another car if so will let you all know my results, cheers for all the responce its good to talk ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 17th, 2008, 6:20pm well plugged the maff back in today and we had o/d flashing lumpy gear change plus put your foot down lots of revs not much power at the wheels also lost 4th gear again, unplugged the maff smooth drive home of to get new maff tomorrow, this part has a lot of influence over the whole engine, so i should have a sweet running v6 cossie power machine again soon. |
Title: Re: maf Post by deconick on Oct 23rd, 2008, 5:35pm ok peoples good news fitted new maff on monday and the o/d light has not flashed gear change smooth and the engine sounds and runs better, also fitted new air filter and put engine breather pipe to atmosphere with it own small filter also got inlet tube of a 2.3 scorp so i now have a cold air induction kit on the cheap :D 8) :) :D ::) |
