Can You Get Induction Kit for Scorpio?

Hi Guys & Gals,

Does anyone know if you can get an induction kit to fit on a 95 2.0 16v Ultima?  I've checked K&N and they don't have one.  I've seen a Max Power Universal one, not sure iof it would fit.  Says fit 99% of cars, but I'm sure that the Scorpio would be in the 1%.  Sad  Any ideas anyone?  Thanks, Ben

hi there

i had the max power one. it will fit, but is a bit of a pain in doing so. you'll also need to find somewhere for the breather pipe. you could use a small pipercross filter, but these are about £25-£30....same price as the max power filter from http://www.waxacar.co.uk/
that's where i got mine. you lose about 1 mpg with it. the noise on full throttle makes up for it!  Grin
you don't gain much in power etc (if anything), but engine will spin up quicker (imo).

my one is now on a punto ( friend of my sons). he thinks it's great! that's me taking it off after testing it on a run from glasgow to harewood house, leeds. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/meet0603.htm (2nd picture)

Andrew,

Thanks for that.  I've seen the Max Power one for £15.  I had a look on the pipercross website and they do one for the cosworth, but it's like £70.  How much of a pain in the ass is the Max Power to fit?

hi there

it's not that bad! it comes with different sized rubber rings...say 30mm, 25mm, 20mm etc. you need to, if i remember correctly, put 2 rings into each other, them fit the MAF. something like that. just remember to do something with the breather pipe. the pipecross filter i was on about is the very small for breather pipes etc. like the one for the ecotec thing. http://www.ecotekplc.com/filter_silencer.htm

Hey.!

Sveibraa had fitted an greenfilter on his 2.3, he was pleased with it.
Im just about to ask him how he did it... With mounting and that breadther pipe...

How hot is that box with the airfilter supose to be..?
Mine is realy hot, cant hold my hand on it.. Hothot..
Where does that hot air come from.? Breather pipe.?

Looks cooler with an open greenfilter... k&n..?

Why is the torx-screws to the MAF painted..? For ford to check if the maf has been tampered with..? Shold i see the carbon on the sensor? looks clean..

Hi not sure why the screws on the maf are painted but I would assume it identifies if its been tampered with as you suggested. You can usually see if the sensors are dirty with a brownish soot. If yours are bright and shiney then there ok but if you have got that far its worth giving them a shot of carb cleaner anyway.
All the best

hi there

re the HOT air filter box. it should be cold. colder air is denser (i think). that's why you fix the induction kit and channel in cold air away from the engine/radiator.
