Chip for 2.9 12v to better performance

Hi
is there a chip (cheap) on the market to make my 2.9 12V ultima perform as well as my old 1990 12 valver.
All engine tests say my Ultima is OK but it is not as hot as my old car. Unless someone wants to change me for a Cossie. But looking through the cars breaking section Cossies sem high on the list. Am I missing something reliability wise. LOve my Ultima

Hi i got a 12v and on one of the old forums they said the reason for lack of power is the cats .
I know there are places now that replace the cats with plain pipe and you could change back for Mot but me i'm just learning to live with it . car still eats escorts (as long not turbo  )

there is a chip yes ..but it isn't cost effective and the performance increase is too minimal .. regards ...STN
<ps. on yours the chip is good for approx 8 bhp ..if that >

Thanks both of you for the replies. Guess I will have to live with it. Progress in mechanichs hey!!. Less power and higher fuel consumption with the same power unit. Good job the car is prettier
