Advice on a 2.3 Ultima..

I am looking hard for a decent late 2.3 Ulitma.. I have read the web page about buying and have some fairly good knowledge of things Scorpio.. Is there anything that you think I should be aware of with the 2.3 Ultima? I see the 2.3 engine gets pretty good reviews? I have done my time with 2.9 12v and 24v and want something less risky and cheaper to run.. Any comments are welcome

Thanks Gents - I have my eye on two at the moment both R regs's My mechanic - who I respect totally (he worked on all these cars and the earlier Granadas and has owned loads).. Says, and this may cause discussion, that the best all round Scorpio is still the Scorpio Ultima with the 12v Cologne in it.. Obviously I was suprised by this comment but he went through why and to be honest as a consistant he is right.. Anyway I want to give the 2.3 a go . It probably doesnt have the grunt of the V6's but i have been there and experienced the fuel consumption on both the 12v and 24v Thanks again

Watch out for head failure, I have had mine just over a year and only driven it for four months due to head problems, (That's the cars head before you say anything Craig) , I have been told that they are common for the head failing due to extreme temperature. If you take one for a test drive see how hot the cam cover is to touch afterwards, mine stills gets so hot that you can't put your hand on it, If it is like this i would look elsewhere Other 2.3 owners might be able to tell how hot theirs get in comparison.
