Advice for LPG and coolent leaks

Just a bit of advice if you have LPG and any coolent leaks:

I have a small coolant leak which I neglected to top up for a while.

Today my LPG played up and when I looked under the bonnet the vapouriser had frozen.

Apparently it uses the hot water supply from the engine.

A new vapourised may be needed if the gaskets have cracked while frozen.

The car never overheated but needed 4litres so the level was very low. But the LPG play's up a little as the coolent gets lower and lower.

Hi Mike,

The good news you don't need to buy a new vapouriser for two reasons, 1:  You can buy a overhaul kit for the vapouriser, includes new diaphram and gaskets, there are only about six small allen bolts that hold it all together, not hard todo yourself, 2 : Vapourisers don't usually get damaged when they freeze up because they are designed with that in mind, remember they are designed to have gas enter a very low temp so that the gas enters as a liquid and is then warmed up into a gas again, so there is nothing to worry about.  When mine had the inlet manifold crack and water pump go at the same time mine kept freezing up all the time just switched back to petrol until it thawed out then it could be used again.  Mine needs to be overhauled now as it has done over 120.000 miles and has gone past its natural life, the kits aren't that exspensive just contact whoever installed your system.

Hi Fitzy,

Have you finished the head gasket on your motor yet?

  Cheers Nick
