Any one know who Scoprios perform under crash test scenarios.......is that big body really as safe as it looks or has it got flaws. For example, does the Scrop have side impact bars? Any one had (heaven forbid) any experience of Scorp's in this situation? FG

Yep I do... Last April I had a head on in my P reg 2.3 Ghia estate, suffered bruising about the chest, bruising on upper legs(steering wheel) nasty cut to head ( no belt on ) and a 'nasty' broken right ankle, apparently these foot/leg breaks are normal now belts & airbags are in. I don't know how to add photo's otherwise I would.. I must admit I was impressed by the sturdiness of the car, to the point of buying another an R reg Ultima estate.

Did you say you had no belt on, tut tut. What speed were you doing and the car that hit you? Would you say you'd have fared worse if you'd been in another car? FG

I did say no belt on, I dont know what speed I was doing as I was braking and the ABS allowed me to steer round the Vauxhall in front and go head on into the Peugot 406 coming the other way !He had belt & bag and got out with bruised chest & thumb, but apart from the restyled ront end his car had a corrugated roof (front to rear), I don't know if that's good or bad. I have posted a couple of pictures of the Scorpio wreck in the picture library. The impact was such as to smash the bell housing & tailshaft housing of the Scorpio (auto) box, but the passenger area was relatively unscathed (except where my flailing limbs had smashed up the plastic !)
