exporting my scorp

hi guys thinking of moving to cape town south africa.Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost me to get my scorpio over there as i dont wanna leave it here

Shipping-ro-ro, roll on roll off would be about £1000. But your problem would be importing it. The import duties in SA are very high. Even residents pay through the nose. Then you would have the problem of obtaining parts. Sell your scorp and buy when you get there is my advise. john.n

They actually did a mega fast Cortina in South Africa called the XR6
Ford Cortina XR6
Manufactured by: Ford Motor Company of South Africa, Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, Republic of South Africa
Years produced: 1981 - 84
Price at launch: unknown
The Ford Cortina XR6 Mark V, which was only available in four door form, was powered by the 3.0 litre (183 cu. in.) It was launched in 1981, following the 3.0S Mark IV, and was powered by a 140 HP Essex V6 engine, coupled with a four speed gearbox. The rear suspension of this car was a unique five-link setup instead of the more fragile trailing-arm system of the European Cortina. The reason for this modification was to cope with South African road conditions.
Mid-June 1982 brought about the birth of the Cortina XR6 Interceptor. This was a real true blue Ford and has become a very sought after collectors item. This car included modified exhaust headers, camshaft, cylinder heads, high compression pistons, a 3.08 differential and, most important, three 42 Webers. This very special car also boasted 13" alloy rims. This combination became a legend on both race track and on the street. Only 250 of these were ever made.
Between 1981 and 1984 variations of the XR6 included the XR6 TF (Team Ford) which sported a white paint job with Ford blue striping and Interceptor rims.
A very limited edition was the Cortina X-Ocet. The car was similar to the Interceptor except for its being fueled by a 450 cfm Holley.

I agree with Craig there on the XR8. Macca i realise that cars are mega dear in SA. - my in laws live just outside Capetown (Simonstown- have a look if you do go, its an old navel port and a lovely friendly Town, i can even tell you where to have a beer!) The last time i was there i really fancied buying an AC Cobra kit car as there seemed to be a few about- just a thought! john.n

ive been to simons town already they have trouble with baboons ransacking houses.The cars they have there are strange,you can still buy new ever model of vw golf mk1 to mk4.They have pick vauxhall corsa,s and pick up fiestas or should i say backies.My friends say they have never seen a ford as well speced as my scorp when they came over last year ,thats why im thinking of taking it over.
