HELP! Changing batteries in the remote keyfob

Hi Guys

I just replaced the batteries in my Scorpios alarm/immobiliser keyfob and now it doesnt work at all.  I put the old batteries in it and it still didn't work.  Do I need to do something to it before it will work?  Can anyone help?!  The guy at Evans Halshaw didn't say anything to me when he handed the batteries over...

Okay.... changed my mind now!  I have just tried the instructions in programming the remote and they did not even slightly work!
I put the key in the ignition and turn it to position '1'.  The radio comes on.  I turn it off again. I do this four more times then, on the fifth time leave it in position '1'.

Listen for a beep - NO BEEP.

Okay, try again with 5 on/off and leave it in poistion '1' on the 6th turn.  NO BEEP.
Try it with 3 and leave it in position '1' on the fourth turn.  NO BEEP.

I then proceeded to try the same method turning it from position 1 to position 2 (where all the dash warning lights come on) using 3, 4 and 5 turns.  NO BEEP.

AM I being thick and missing something here guys, or is somthing missing from the instructions?

HEEEEELP!

*much fiddling and muttering later*

Aha! SUCCESS! thanks! I was doing it too slowly - waiting for the stereo display to light up before turning it off.  You have to do it pretty quickly and then wait for the fob to beep when the car beeps for the first time.  Excellent.

No idea what that advice in the manual is all about... complete nonsense!

Robsa, I think you'll find that the handbook 'system'does work for some models but as usual there is a variation on later models which, suprise suprise, these wiz kids have sussed out and as you have discovered they are right!!!. Simmo

I just need to put the key to position 1  ( once )  and press  the  Lock button on the remote  ( once )  and  the system gives me  one  recognition  chime.
