Alarm

I've noticed to-day that the red LED on top of dashboard is remaining on while driving, the car starts fine and the doors lock and unlock on the remote.  However ,  I'm  80%  sure that the  alarm is going  off about 10 mins after  i've locked the car. The reason I'm  not 100% sure is because Ford, in their wisdom, thought it not necessary to have flashing lights on the car when the alarm is triggered, and my outside car park is full of cars  and by the time I get downstairs the car alarm  has stopped,  so, like a fool, I locked myself in my car for 15 minutes and all was fine.

So that leaves the LED, any ideas ?

I'm not an expert on this, but the alarm switch/button thing for the bonnet seems to cause problems a lot of the time.

Trying to find some more info on the LED for you. Not sure this is of any help really... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pats.htm

I did notice the " Boot  Open " indication   on the fascia   diagram   ( on the left of the speedo ) it  sometimes  shows the  boot lid to be open when it's not .

I shall check that out on Sunday, weather permitting,  I don't like leaving it unlocked all night, but can't take the risk of  annoying the neighbours with errant  nocturnal  car alarms

if you want to disable the alrm horn its situated behind the battery box .... I think   quite easy to find really just set the alarm off and listen with the bonnet up.. pull one of the connectors off and that stops it annoying the neighbours but you can still set it.....and lock it.

best way to test the alarm is to lift the bonnet and press the bonnet switch several times quickly alrm should activate  ( test method for ford cars)

Thanks Snoopy,

I'm   looking for the  boot lid  switch ( for the dash   [ doors   open/close]  indicator ) I  wonder   is it in the  lid or  in the  lock striker  area ?

I think it is ten times, then you can test all the doors etc to see if the system is ok, eg If you open a door the horn will give a short beep.

I did mean all the different tests for all the different systems i.e. there was another one the other day - hold the rear screen heater button for 5 seconds. Something to do with the timers
