Its 17 years of age to be able to drive a car in UK. (I believe). some talk of uping it to 18. A little while ago on a World drivers age thingy on the Web. most countries are 17 or 18 years. But in USA it according to states i think there are 50 states in USA. Well in some states its as low as 14 year of age. I know kids in USA sort of grow big, larger than in UK. but even so a 14 year old has a 14 year old brain I am thinking. No wonder it was saying in USA they have a high toll in accidents with younger drivers than in other countries. and they sort of love those truck type of vehicles. Where the age is not 14 its 16 still lowers than other countries

But don't the Americans have Drivers Ed as a subject at High School whereas here you have to wait till your 17 and pay for it yourself. Not that I'm saying taking the subject at school would make a 14 year old a better driver but young brains soak up info better during those formative school years. My father was a Motor mechanic by trade and did much the same during his National Service so when I was growing up I was always around cars and was taught the ins and out very early. Driving came very naturally to me and I was shown how to move a car at around 14 (on private land) semed to give me a head start above the kids I was at school with.

Blimey! If the Americans manage to crash more often than us other there with their huge wide roads just imagine the carnage they'd cause if they came over here with out titchy little roads.

Yes just think of it in this country. if it was 14. Daddy buys a scorpio cosworth off Ebay for his 13 year old son and gives it to him on his 14 birthday. So off he goes down the M1 or M6 or where ever at 135 miles per hour.

buts there is more. my son talks to others on a kids web site. Its in USA, Japan and lots of other countries. There is a girl aged 12 in New Mexico. (don't ask me where that is, I suppose it must be in New Mexico). Well this girl as a brother nearly 14, so on his birthday he going to get a car and drive to school with her friends and his friends. Don't like that, I am thinking, but I suppose they surely have to have a licence holder with them, until they have past a test. Do they need driving licences in USA, yes they must surely. I thinking. P.S. Its when I start to think, that things go wrong.

Strange that in the US you can drive a car at 14 ( with learners permit ) but can't get served with alcohol in a bar until you are 21. I am undecided as to which law is more daft. Perhaps 18 years would be sensible for both ! I never tire of reminding British people that , petrol is $2.05 (£1.09) a gallon in the USA, just in case we forget how we are being soundly shafted every time we visit the pumps.
