Current bulbs out

So the facia bulbs currently out in my car are as follows: Both heated seats lights (not main green bits just the picture illumination), both front and rear heated window switches (ditto), the "S" and "R" buttons on the trip computer, err.... think thats it. In all probability though if I replace all those another few will go

You've got me thinking, I didn't know the heated seat lights were were illuminated ( apart from the activation green light ). One for investigation, the switches are quite easy to remove from the centre console but taking them apart is a bit more tricky.

Mr Floppy - I am not sure whether the heated seat switches illuminate with the side lights or when the ignition is on but the symnols are meant to light up! The switches come out easy enough but I chickened out when trying to open them up Music Master - I think they must be separate bulbs as my "S" button worked for a while but has now gone out, the "R" button never lit up Its all good fun

Removed the seat heater switches to-day, carefully took them apart , there are two tiny bulbs, one for illumination, one for heater activation. The bulbs have a miniscule wattage but are 12 volt so I used some similar bulbs from an old car cassette player and soldered them on and reassembled, they work fine although they get a bit warm ! They are illuminated when ignition switch is at position 1.

Thanks for the info - I just really felt I was going to snap mine when I did it - yours springs didn't fly away did they? Bit concerned about that. Think I just need to seize the day. Or get a scrapyard switch then it doesn't matter so much if I break it

Lucky Chap to have so many breakers yards in your locality, up here, scrapped Scorps are as rare as finding soap in Dundee.

Eee thats wierd - I didn't say anything about nasal fluid in that post, what I said has changed quite a bit What I actually typed was that I would get a scrapyard switch then it didn't matter if I broke it. When I try to type it out again it changes it Argh it did it again - maybe the forbidden word/phrase list doesn't like that particular sequence of words? Anyway - I didn't mean to be vulgar, for once, it genuinely wasn't me

Agreed, without this site and the Web in general, owning a Scorpio would a trickier proposition for people in rural areas with limited access to spares, repair and competent reliable servicing. I am very reluctant to put it into my local garage for anything but the most basic of repairs due the complexity of the electrical/ engine management system, even something as basic as battery disconnection can be fraught with difficulties if a mechanic is unaware of the Scorpios dislike of this manouvre.
