It goes against every website (including this one) that explains how to properly clean an engine without messing up the electrics.

Cool the entire engine with cold running water from a garden hose with a spray attachement.. You can use a pressure washer to force water into the places it hasn't already invaded from your garden hose... Makes me feel ill just thinking about it.... Wonder if they ever got that Isuzu started again...

hi there strange thing is that's just about how i do it! must have done it 3 or 4 times now with the scorpio and still no problems. i will say i do it with a pressure washer, but i don't aim directly at any electrical component. i must be lucky as i've done it to all my cars without any problems.

The only reason i had probs was because 2 of the plug leads were worn at the top thus allowing water to fill up the seat where the lead goes in. It was a pig to dry out. However i have done this on every other car with no probs.......

Even the idea of removing an engine bay multi-plug fills me with dread never mind lashing gallons of high pressure soapy water all over the engine. It'll all end in disaster , you're all DOOOOMED!!!

Look at it as form of long term maintenance....once clean it'll never get dirty again....'cause it won't run !
