hello scorpios,

after some advice on the 24v cosworth engine, got the old 12v at the moment but am thinking about getting the
24v.
also debating whether it would be cost effective to convert to lpg once bought, and would it be possible to convert my excisting leonardo system over.

any input would be appreciated,

tnanks,

Hi Bob
24v is excelant motor, has its own problems that are well documented on the forum.
LPG is a cost effective way to go, you say you have a leonardo system, is it single point, closed loop, multi piont or sequential, I have had both closed loop & sequential on mine, closed loop was great, but the differance in economy, smoothness & performance with the sequential more than makes up for the extra cost.
obviously it depends on your annual mileage but I pay about 32.50 less per gal for gas, it soon adds up. had to use 2 vapourisers on the 24v though.

hello mart,

thanks for that, don't know what type it is,but i know what you're saying about costs,i wouldn't be able to run mine on petrol, but the cost of a new system would be substantial.
averaging 10,000 miles per year,so would have to weigh up the cost.but for some reason i've always wanted a cosworth!
i'll keep on looking,cheers mart,

The leonardo system is not recommended for the Scorpio 24V as it is a single point injector system that mixes lpg with air at the beginning of the inlet tract and as the 24V has about 8 feet of inlet it makes a very effective bomb when it ignites due to static, heat or backfire. It then wrecks the plastic bits and the expensive MAF.

To convert a 24V through a reputable dealer to an SVI (sequential injection) is going to set you back around 2000 pounds.

ok £2000.00 sounds a lot to pay, but thats only 800 gals of fuel (lpg is available at about £2.50 per gal than petrol), if you only use £40.00 a week you get your costs back in 18 mths, use it for 3 yrs you could save the cost of your car, depends on your mileage, suppose I am lucky, its one of the things I do for a living, just costs me the kit price. put 2k in the bank for 3 yrs see how much you get back.

thanks steve,thanks mart,

you mentioned you do this for a living,if i did get hold of a cosworth would you be interested in doing the conversion on it.
if so,and depending where you are, give us a quote,e mail, and perhaps we can sort it.
the bloke who did mine doesn't do it anymore and there are a few cowboys out there,so my options are limited,

cheers,

ok,i may be purchasing a cos soon, thanks for the offer.
i'm down in swansea, but depending on how long it would take i could easily find a hotel/b+b to crash out for the night whilst it's being done.
do they sell guinness in that part of the country?
i'll give you a shout when the time comes,

cheers,
