New Plugs For 24 Valve - Iridium?

I am about to buy a new set of plugs for my 60,000 mile 24V Ultima and am contemplating Denso IK20 iridium tipped. Are there any known disadvantages other than higher cost or am I breaking new ground? The alternative is Ford Motorcraft at about £70 or at a lower cost N.G.K. PFR6B-11 platinum plugs bought via the internet, or just choose the cheapest platinum around? 73's Malcolm

My personal choice is to stay with the Ford platinum. They are the original fitment and they last well for the full 2 years between changes. You will get them much cheaper - by post - if you use http://www.fordpartsuk.com/ This is a very efficient and quick service.

I have fitted NGK Iridium to my 24V due to the fact I run on LPG. The theory being that LPG burns hotter and wears the Plugs out faster. There is a write up on http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/ about the differences between Platinum and Iridium. I have been using them since early last December and all seems ok. I also bought the plugs from them. David
