hi there

i'm sure this has been said before, but i can't find it. anyway, some people find the scorpio's headlights to be poor. the biggest problem with them, imo, is the lens. because of the design (polyellipsoid), any wear on the glass lens (scratches, old age etc) reduces the amount of light shining on the road (it goes off in all directions). proof of this, in my case, came when i had a new headlight fitted after an accident. the difference is huge! like one light on, one on sidelight (might happen with scorpio electrics Grin). so if you're having issues with the headlights, imo, change the lens.

CAN ONLY AGREE WITH YOU THERE ANDREW,WHEN I BOUGHT THE LENSES FOR MINE,I DID IT SOLELY FOR THE LOOKS,BUT HAVING CHANGED THEM FROM PRE FACELIFT TO FACELIFT THE DIFFERENCE IS VERY NOTICABLE INDEED,ALSO CHANGED THE BULBS AT THE SAME TIME TO THE 30% BRIGHTER ONES......

andrew....
i bought mine from halfords whilst actually looking for something else, they had a good offer on there bulbs, priced at £12.99,it was buy one get one free, did consider the ones on ebay, but decided against it in the end,any problems with them, you have very little comback, where as with halfords.........

have certainly made a difference though(halfords xenon super bright 30% brighter bulbs).....

I know that the headlights circuit is fused. In this case can i mount someting like hi-power rating bulbs ? something like 80W meeting lamps and 100W road lamps.

I bought   50%  brighter Xenon  bulbs  on E-Bay and, quite frankly,  I dont see any  difference  from the  standard ones that came with the car ( 'cept a blue tinge to the light!) .

I believe  the  80-100 Watt   bulbs should only be used off road ,  which is a  bit  vague  legally  speaking , are they illegal or not ?

100w is illegal for road use. Bit of a con really, HID lights pump out more light but because its less than 100w per light unit it is legal. Allthough vehicles so fitted MUST be fitted with a auto levelling system.
THe regs should really specify the light intensity, candle power (?)
