Unlocking the 24V Drive Belt Tensioner

Can anyone tell me how I could unlock the tensioner of the alternator drive belt of my 24V? I want to remove the RHS chain tensioner. In order to do that, I have to remove the alternator, which means I have to remove the drive belt. But I don't know how to releave the tension in the belt. The manual says "unlock the tensioner by turning it clockwise". I don't get it. Should the tensioner itself rotate clockwise? I tried it, but, as can you probably imagine, it's steady as a rock. Does the hexagonal hole in the centre have something to do with this? Should I use an allen key to rotate it clockwise? Thank you.

NO . the whole of the tensioner is on a clock type spring and requires a lot of force to get it to move. I use a 17mm socket and a long bar then get my other pair of hands to remove thebelt while I hold the tension off it.. It really is very very strong, nothing like the A/C belt which can be done one handed.. It does need to be pulled or force applied in a clockwise direction, and when the belt is off let it back very slowly... Once done you will find it easier next time.

Thanks, Snoopy. I did it. It was very easy once I got the idea. Next step: the alternator... I managed to loosen its bolts (maaaan, were they tight! ), but the rest will have to wait until the rain stops.
