Is my remote dead? FIXED!!

Hey there peeps, My remote stopped working yesterday, or I assume it's the remote. It could of course be the car not receiving the signal. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can test if the remote is dead? Also, obviously, I am now opening the car with the key. Now the boot won't open when the lock is pressed in. Even when the car is unlocked I have to open the boot with the key. Is this some wierd thing that the boot will only open with a press on the lock when the car has been unlocked on the remote, or could these two problems be linked? Thanks, guys, for your continued support! Martin.

Well first thing i did is to try to reprogram the remote, no luck. I tried both the method on here and the method in the handbook and neither worked. The batteries couldn't have been dead, I only put them in 2 months ago! The next thing I checked was the wiring in the boot - Voila! following the wiring along the strut to the back of the boot (By back I mean the end nearest the seats!) I found 2 wires totally severed and one connected by 2 strands of copper! I soldered these connections back together and the button on the boot now works perfectly! I then tried reprogramming the remote - I'm not sure how I managed it (A random combination of key turns and button presses), but it eventually started to work! So that's 2 problems down, 3 to go!

Had a comparable confusing experience reprogramming the remote. What worked for me in the end was, following the first beep after turning the key: pressing the LOCK button first, then the UNLOCK button... Works ever since. Ray
