Hi ya All, I'm just about to change the rear brake pads on my car for the first time, but i'm not quite sure if it is the same procedure as it was with my old granada!!! There are two bolts on the caliper, do i remove the one nearest the front of the car , or nearest the back of the car? Thanks alot Ron

I hope you have the caliper piston winding back gizmo, it sure saves a lot of swearing and skinned knuckles.

just remove the caliper itself. loosen the bleed nipple, and then retract the piston using the correct tool. DO NOT JUST PUSH IT BACK! it must be wound back at the same time. tighten the bleed nipple, fit new pads, and refit to bracket. It's normally easier to remove both bolts, and support caliper by hand!

important : my advice would be to make sure that the handbrake is totally de-adjusted and that the levers are right back against their stops before the actual brake pad job ..even if that means removing the cable from the levers first .. make certain that they are free moving and only then follow the pad replacement procedure ..when finished the pad replacement then use the brake pedal to settle the pads to their full adjustment and only then replace the handbrake cables and adust accordingly ..this will assure correct h/brake adjustment . ......hope that helps Ron ..... regards ..STN

hi there yep, i agree with STN. that's how i do mine. i'd just add, before adjusting the handbrake back on, pull the level on and off 20 times to equalize the cable. hth
