litres per hour reading between 1.0 to 1.9 in neutral, with hot engine, car is only doing 18mpg. it is a 2.3 auto. what controls the litres per hour on this car? and what should it be?

Hello, my 2.3 manual does 0.8 - 1.2 liters per hour when idleing and 1.5-1.8 when AC kicks in.

my 2.3 gets about 23mpg average mostly around town with the odd 3 mile stretch of national speed limit. I was getting about 18-20 but then I added some fuel cleaner, the type that cleans the injectors.
I am new to Scorps myself (since last week) so someone will no doubt kick in with some better info.

Forgot to mention that it takes 3-3.8 after a cold night, and warms up in about 5 minutes, after wich the above post continues. It's normal at the start to consume more fuel because of the electronic chocke system. The ICV pumps a lot o fuel at start-up to keep the engine running till it gets "warm", so you don't have to bother like in an old car to keep it reved till the engine gets warm and doesn't stall.

Cheers

been running car today the lph goes all over the place then it ran 0.8lph
at 850 rpm the engine ran smooth then the rev counter fluttered around the 1000/1100 mark and the engine note changed the lph went upto 2.0 it seemed to hunt then it returned to 850 rpm the lph just went to 1.5/1.7 and the engine note was different again.so it will have to go to the tuners
