Had 4 new 225 50 16's fitted today on my 2.3 97 Ultima Estate and asked the garage to air them to 29f 26r, which I was previously running my worn (but legal) set on After a great deal of huffing and puffing they VERY reluctantly did so, saying that they should be 30+. What's the general opinion these days? The car does a 500 mile round trip at motorway speeds once a month (next one is this Friday) but otherwise its around town stuff. The car is rarely heavily loaded. Wouldn't normally have bothered posting this but the garage was so adamant that 29/26 was too low for tryes of this size. Even showed them the handbook but they were unconvinced. What do others run their 2.3 estates on? Thanks as always

31 sounds about right for us 60mph plodders , I don't think it's that critical, as long as the tyres on a axle set are of equal pressure.
