Badly ripped hose - Worth checking out?

I dont know if this has been coverd before or is a known issue. I started getting choppy idle at the start of the week so started working my way round all of the air system for leaks. As I was going round I knocked into the main hose that goes into the top of the main block and heard a momentary hiss sound. I tracked the problem down to a portion of the hose that had stuck to the side of the EGR pipe and had just brocken down over time and finaly started letting in air. Once I had pulled it fully away form the EGR, the hole was about 2" long!! Patched it up pending a new hose, reset the car power and job done, no more poor idle! I wonder if the possition of this hose against the EGR is common, if so it may be something that everyone should make a quick check on. I have now zip tied the hose away from all pipes, so it wont happen again. I have pictures but cant figure out how to post here, cananyone help? [img][/img]

Hi, you need to host your picture on something like tinypic(www.tinypic.com) or get an online album (such as www.photobucket.com) and host it there. Then you insert it using the /img tags. HTH

Could it be the crankcase breather pipe that goes to the air filter from the top/ rear of the engine ?
