hi there

it's a code for the Heater Blower Control. most times it's over heating slightly.

just re-set it a couple of times and it should be ok for a week or two. then you need to re-set it again.

I just did the hbc reset, and the faultcode did'nt show up, but stil there is no warm air approaching.
The whole system runs just right,
the heater radiator is all right, but still cold air.
I don't understand.
What else can I do, what else, then sell it Smiley

Well now were getting somewhere  Smiley

How is your temp gauge, going up or not (on long,or short trips) you could have a blocked open thermostat and the engine will warm up verry late.

You could have an air poket somwhere, to resolve climb a hill warm up the engine and run the car without the expansion cap of, also give it some revs (standing not in trafic)

If all of this doesn't sort out the problem thet you could have a blocked heat matrix. You could try to backflush the system with lots of water, you will be amazed what will come out from the cooling system. Don't forget to put back the right concentration of water/antrifreeze.

Believe me or not,....I did all this.
So, I tought that the problem was salved,.... but nothing like it.
Could it be possible, that the hcb is brokenHuh
because soon after resetting,....the faultcode comes back.IF that can be a problemHuh

Phillip

It looks like you may have to swap it out.

If there are any members in you neck of the woods with a good HBC substituting yours for theirs for a few minutes will confirm if the HBC is the main culprit.

If you check it and it does not have a piece of aluminium sheet pop rivetted to the bottom of the heat sink then the HBC is original and has not been upgraded and was doomed to fail from the moment that the outside temperature went above 25 or 26c for any length of time. Even with the upgraded heat sink it does not seem to cope much above 30c during a hot summer and then any extended fan activity to heat or cool is likely to cause it to overheat. Bit like an early pentium without a fan  Angry

Octavian made a good point about a stuck open thermostat, if you have that problem in this weather it will probably never get beyond a slight warm draft.

Does your heater put out any heat when it is stationary?

Good luck

When the car runs stationary, the heater deffenatly put out some heat.
It seems like the air, that blows trough, colds the heat matrix to much.
The heat matrix is backflushed, and is completaly clean, runs as a scorpio in good shape, but still no hot air in the car.
Just for a second when it goes stationary.

Philip,

Well as Octavian said it sounds like it may be a thermostat failed open then, the extra air flow when you are running and the higher revs may be allowing things to stay to cool.

What engine do you have?

Probably

What condition was the old one open or closed?

And I guess this is a follow up question to Octavian's does the temperature needle move? If so how far?

hi there

the hbc only controls the fans speed, not the heat.

have you checked for an airlock? you need to run the engine with the cap off and the front of the car raised up for up to 20mins, to get all the air out. every now and then, give the engine a rev (no more than 2.5k rpm). keep checking the temps in the pipe work to the radiator and at the bulkhead (matrix). BE CAREFULL!!! Wink

another problem could be the stepper motors than control the heat flaps might be broken off, so no heat is getting in to the car.

Huh  Where is the HBC located  Huh

Can't say that I've ever seen it. Certainly not seen anything with a large heat sink attached to it  Huh

I really checked everything what you all suggested,....
And still no heated air,.....
Only when it runs smoothly,...
Then there comes a little warm air.
But really hot air,....
I don't have.
