Someone mentioned in another post about what the inside of a HBC looks like. Well here is one opened up after a hammer modification Incidently, its mostly full of some soft, black sticky goo and a small PCB (which has broken in the photo). New one fitted thanks to Howie and now working perfect.

Hmmm, a lot simpler than I would've thought!!! Did it need a few whacks of the hammer to break open then?

nice one mate! I had the one out of my car today because the blower is playing up, I was hoping that it would be the early type without the extra heat sink. Well its not so I need to purchase a good used one if anyone can help?
