Boot Locked ?

After a year  I've only  just noticed  that  my boot can be opened  when the engine is running, with the resultant chance of some tattooed scally inbred  running off with my trolley jack and toolbox  while motionless  at  the  lights.

   Is this normal ?

Like Craig said, Earlier cars did this. Easiest way to prevent someone popping the trunk while your stationary is to lock the doors while your driving.

Thanks for that I'll check mine.........
It's a strange default option.
Never crossed my mind to check for such a thing

This is very interesting because my 1995 2.0l 16V does! Only found out one cold morning while warming the car but then wanted to get into the boot for some reason, and it wouldn't let me! It was first owned by Balfour Beatty so maybe they asked for it as an option? Or, could be the lock was changed at a later date - the covering boot lid trim had been off for some while by the time I got it

I think this query has now been resolved. There are two options available and they can only be altered by Ford dealers with specialised kit. Baz has just aquired a set and one of his 'discoveries' is that this option can be turned on or off with his new outfit.  Read this for further info.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=OT;action=displa y;num=1147799736;start=0#0.
