Boot open indicator

Hi All,

Slightly irritating problem in that the dashboard "boot open" light is on permanently.

Any ideas where this sensor is actually located (I've took the trim off the rear boot lid..can't seem to fathom it out...

Alternatively...as a quick fix...which wires do i short circuit to make the bloomin' light go out!!

Cheers

Isn't the sensor on or part of the actual lock mechanism?. There should be a connector there surely. Mine is an estate so not familiar with the saloon.

Yeah, theres 2 wires that go into a plastic box attached to the lock mechanism...i'm assuming these to be the sensor wires, but I can't see what makes the sensor work i.e. where it gets its info from as to whether the boots open or not? Undecided

Also, theres another 2 wires that go into something like a multi switch connector. This has the rod attached to it that opens up when you press the boot release button. So, is it this that houses the sensor? Undecided Undecided

....if i remember right (done mine about 6 months ago), and presuming its the same as a '98 facelift, there is a 3rd connector (black i think), low down to the left of the lock (looking from inside the car). that is the boot open/closed sensor. you will probably find it has just disconnected. re connect/make contacts good, and you see the dash indicator go out (you may need to start the car to reset it)

you should also find that you alarm will work now too.

On the right hand side of the instrument panel. Should be an outline of the car and if the ignition is on and any doors or the boot/tailgate are open they are indicated in red in the appropriate position on the outline.
