Hi Baz, Have always liked the look of rear lights smoked out but often wondered about the brightnes afterwards. Are your lights any darker when illuminated or can you get higher wattage bulbs?

Al, My lights are no darker than the tinted rear lights on the old sierras or the new Novas. I still have the standard bulbs in and they are more than bright enough. I did change the rear high level stop light though. I took it off the rear shelf and put it up at the top of the window and swapped it for a brighter LED one off a Volvo!! Just involved a bit of retro engineering. Got a rear shelf cover from a very early executive which had no high brake light and just had to cut out the bit to go round my centre inertia reel belt. As you can see, the two rear lights don't look particyularly dim to me!!

I too can confirm that despite them being ever so slightly less bright than normal they still look ok with normal bulbs. I had mine professionally painted and it was agreeded that 3 coats of tint was sufficient, they also added a single layer of laquer to seal everything. So go for it, they look superb. Thanks once more to Baz for the original idea . Mike
