Help with coolant blanking cap?

Could anyone help me identify the cap that is fitted to a coolant pipe next to the A/C compressor on my 2.9 12valve. I noticed that its a bit old and hard and want to change it but Fords didn't know what I was on about  It maybe on the water pump. Hope this makes sense, if not I will have to have another look and explain more!

Is it like a tyre valve? If so its the Refrigerant filler for the A/C system. DO NOT Play with it . Specialised equipment needed for this type of work, and it can burn quite badly.

No its not that Snoppy, its on the side of the engine at the front if you know what I mean. You can see it from under the car or from the top if you look between the side of the engine and the compressor. Now I'm thinking I am going mad, was it a dream. I will take a pic of it and post it on here.

I know the one its on the side of the engine ( Nearside) and IS blanked off never found out what it was for myself... Sorry if I misread your post ....
You can only see it really lying on your back looking upwards !

OK try asking for this item FINIS 6188848 part number 89GB 8K501 AA it is labelled as a "plug" and costs about £1.50 Incl Vat might jsut be the thing your are looking for.....

Thanks a lot Snoppy, I will ask for that part, probably have to order it as our Ford Dealer only seems to stock oil filters! Cheers Mike.
