Ugly rear end.
« on: Apr 24th, 2006, 7:33pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

The front of my estate is really growing on me, I used to have a couple of catfish and the look reminds me of the big fishies.

The back end is the same as the old Granada and really lets the car down.

Can anyone recommend any thing that can be done to improve matters? (short of throwing loads of cash at a body shop)

I'm  afraid   that   trying    to  improve  the  looks  of   an  estate  car  ( even a   car as  sexy as the Scorpio )   is  a bit like re-arranging  the   deck   chairs on   the Titanic. Kiss

A   wasted  endeavour, buy a saloon Kiss

Sorry....read the title and thought it was a thread about my wife!!

Have to agree, estate cars are functional; a bit like a hearse or a tractor, and not particularly sexy looking

I'd far rather have the rear of the estate than the bulbous butt on the saloon.  Of course, I'd also prefer the more practical boot, self-levelling suspension and higher towing limit...

You could fill the number plate recess with isopon, like the kids do, and stick you're number plate to the bumper. That might look really good...........just joking.
I think it's all "in the eye of the beholder".

I wanted a large estate car for my dog.

I may tint the rear light cluster a bit, see if that helps.

Add a chrome number plate surround and park it facing the house so I don't have to look at the back end!  Grin

Nice job Matt....could you do the front with a couple of big carb inlets sticking out the bonnet?
That would finish it off.

He's small but hes a very active little dog and I would rather keep him behind bars when driving him anywhere.  He got under the pedals of my last car once!

You know, toy cat with suckers on each paw, that stick to the inside of the car window and looks out.

popular in the late 80s / early 90s?

Whilst I'm posting again. My car has no badges, apart from the Blue Ovals.  I assume it should have had badges on the boot?  I normally prescribe to the De-badge way of thinking, but if I'm going to be forking out all that money to run a 2.9ltr V6 I want the world to know!

no badges were put on the rear when new, except for the blue oval. (possibly a black scorpio badge on the centre light bar, on some facelifts)

there will be a scorpio/ultima/ghia x etc badge on the rear doors (next to 1/4light glass when doors are shut) and a 2.0/2.3/24v badge on the front wings.

Yeah Yeah and all that, but it's great to pull up at the lights on Sankey Way alongside a Corsa with tinted windows and a 4 inch tailpipe, 4 burberry baseball caps inside. They get a lovely view of my estate rear end as it heads for Lane Ends Baz
