Dot 4 of Super Dot 4??

Hi, this lunchtime i should hopefully be getting my brakes bled but i'm stuck as to what fluid to use. The handbook says to use Dot 4 but the Ford Technical Manual says to use Super Dot 4? The main differenc ei could see was the boiling point of the fluids. I bought 2l of normal dot 4 from Ford's to do the job so would this be ok to use or should i have gone for the super stuff? Thanks, Matt

Let's say that super dot 4 is a bit improved. As long as you stay away from dot 5 all it's fine

There's one more thing, you could do, buy one more litre and leet the car bleed until clean (new) fluid comes. Then just top up to the level. Doing this will ensure that all the fluid it's brand new and clean. Also it is not good to mix brake liquid.

DOT 5 is a silicone based fluid and is NOT compatable with SOME rubber components and so is NOT recommended for use for NORMAL road vehicles . But to confuse the issue still further DOT5.1 IS as this is not silicone based...... Have read of this if you want to know more HERE
