advice on mot failure parts

This is a copy of my posting in parts wanted, but I'd appreciate any advice
car failed mot yesterday. 1. Cat & 2. rear lower shock bushes. Car is nov '94 2.0 16v exec estate
1. - are all dohc cats the same?
is it possible to get 1 from a scrap car?
does anyone have a good 2nd hand one I could buy?
or does anyone know a good place to source anything cheaper than the £140 quote from bosal
2. - I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have self levelling rear suspension(early car, nov '94)
bushes are not serviced seperately.
are rear shocks same as mk3 granada? all bugeye estate listings show self-levelling.
has anyone pressed the bushes from granada/sierra estate shockers?
anyone got a pair of rear estate shocks for sale?

the shocks are big fat things. the bushes are a nightmare. i was working on a replacement, but didn't get too far with it. i was using bushes from a '00 tranist. not quite the right size, though.
better to replace the shock, but that's a fair bit of work as well.
the cats the same for the 2.0 and 2.3's.

problem is - I can't find anyone who has normal shocks listed

hi there
i've heard this before, but when i looked at the manual, the set up looks different. the self leveling ones go through the wishbone and bolt on from underneath, where as the saloon ones bold on to the back of the wishbones.
to me, they're not interchangeable, but i could be wrong.

not all estates have self leveling suspension, ive just picked up a 2.3 ghia and that doesnt (has the headlight leveling system instead), i'll have a look at it's set up and get back to you

i think you'll find it does have the self levelling or it has been changed at some point.
my estate also has the headlight system.

If the dampers go through a hole in the wishbone then they may be similar to the Sierra estate - might be worth comparing the two.
I think there may have been two types of self-levelling suspension fitted; one which uses an electrically driven compressor and one which has special dampers with built-in pump (similar to the Monroe self-levelling dampers you can buy).
