Trip computer

On recent long haul drive to Wales fuel light came on after 320 miles, trip computer said 60 miles to go. Filled car to brim but only needed 53 litres! That leaves 17 litres which should give more than 60 miles especially as trip comp said i was averaging about 27 mpg (Just worked it out to be 101 miles off 17 litres). Fuel tank doesn't lie so trip computer must be off, However surely the little fuel pump symbol shouldn't have come on with 1/4 tank left! Anyone else getting similar problems? I'm used to the little fuel thingy lighting up when you've got 2 gallons left on every other car i've owned (Inc other fords) are scorps different?

2 gallons is probably about right for the warning light. I think mine lights up when it's slightly below 10 litres. Don't have the trip computer, so can't say anything about that.

In my 2.3 the light comes on when the range is about 60 kilometers (~37 miles) left and about 10 liters.... I think it's something to do with the way you drive, the computer "aproximates" when you'll remain out of fuel. For example i got some pretty nasty mpg out of my scorp in town i get 16.....17 MPG outside town i eaven reached 32 MPG.....

My fuel light comes on with approx. 15 miles left with pings from the computer previously at 50 and 25 miles remaining. The change in the average mileage is calculated over a long period and is not updated regulary like I'm sure we all wished and so is not really an accurate means of telling how much fuel is left especially when coming off from a long trip and nearing the end of the tank, the light is I would say is more reliable.

How come my light comes on with a real 1/4 tank(17 litres) left though? (Just above the red on the gauge) this seems different to everyone elses scorps.
