Thanks for a brilliant site...sunroof fixed!

Hi, I just wanted to say a very big thank you to those responsible for making this awesome website available to us Scorpio owners out here.

Having this place to come to has helped me immensely in understanding my car. Without the site's many useful tips and information pages and shared experiences from so many dedicated owners, it would be a lot harder owning a Scorpio as there is little info eleswhere for us.

Thanks to the help pages etc I have just successfully freed up my sunroof and fitted a replacement motor.

Though a little rusty in places, the sunroof now works nice and smooth.

I followed the advice and guidelines and oiled and greased all the bits that were pointed out, and it is now very smooth.

It hasn't worked since i bought the car earlier this year as the teeth had stripped on the nylon cog (which mates with the worm screw cog off the motor.

I used the old nyon cog (wedged into an old socket drive) to manually wind the sunroof back and forth (open and shut) as i added more oil and grease to the cables, runners and linkcages, because i didn't have anything else that would fit the splined shaft, so it's worth remembering to keep the old cog for future use should it be needed (hopefully not now!).

We (Lorna and I) have just been to Nottingham and back from our Bangor North Wales home to see John Foxx in concert, and the Scorpio 2.3 estate performed beautifully, never missing a beat, and handling the journey as if it were a trip to the local shop.

I love this car. It's big, roomy, comfy, and powerful enough to handle anythin, and being an estate it can carry loads of stuff.

Pity Ford saw fit to discontinue it, but their loss is my gain.

I'm going to keep it as long as I can, which will hopefully be a long time.

Thanks again, anyway.  Smiley
