There' s nothing hard about changing the discs and pads on the Scorpio, you do however need a wind back tool for the rears as without one it is a little awkward to say the least. Good luck

The two bolts ( 15mm I think ) that secure the caliper mount will be very tight, you'll need to turn the steering to full lock to get good access with a long socket extension bar. The old disc may need a few hefty whacks to remove it from the hub. Good Luck.

make sure when fitting the rear disks that the little tag on the back of the pad sits in one of the grooves on the piston

Hi all, Just to update you all,and thank you for your advice. Have done brakes and everything is fine except the handbrake does not work very well, there is a lot of free play on the lever in the car? Will this take up as the caliper adjusts itself?

The first thing is have you made sure that the tag on the pad is located in the groove on the back of the piston as Matt says. It is this 'locating peg' which ensures that as the piston moves to take up the wear on the pad the handbrake 'adjusts' itself. If you go to Reply 1(Snoopy) and click on the links there you will find a section on 'adjusting the handbrake'. Read carefully and you will see that the cable adjuster is ONLY there to take up slack in a new or stretched cable itself. It is NOT a means of adjusting the handbrake. Sometimes the levers on top of the calipers get corroded and you can carefully lubricate them to improve the action. If you lever them with a large screwdriver back and forth you may be suprised at the amount of movement you can achieve.
