Anyone heard about it or tryed it.? My scorp is 5-6cm lower on the rear now and eat tyres like candy, and then someone mentioned chambershims.... Place shims/disks on the marked screws, and youre tyre will get about the right angle and the tyrewear will be normal again... Anyone see any downsides with this..? small disks for 5p saves tyrewear for 200p.... (Real chambershims), "home"made by a guy in norway...

By putting one of these shims in the top like that you will change the camber angle, if your camber is ok then your tyre problem & handling will both change & maybe not for the better. you would be better to get a FOUR wheel alignment check to see if you have a problem

Not chamber but camber I think I know what you saying. The more you lower the suspension on a Scorp the more it wears the inside of the rear tyres. This is because of how the suspension is designed. You also loose grip. By putting the shim in it corrects the angle & everything is good again. Yeah lots & lots of lowered Fords have these fitted. What you should do is measure how much the camber is out & get a shim made to correct it. This is only for lowered cars or cars that carry alot of weight all the time. Who makes them, they look good. Can he machine different thicknesses? Dave.

Not a bad idea ( although maybe rear spring replacement is the best option ) . If Ford, in their infinite wisdom , decree that front and rear camber and castor angles are to be non-adjustable, I see nothing unsafe about altering them to alleviate undue , and very expensive, tyre wear .

Springs are replaced, from broken ford springs to TUV-aproved H&R Sport springs.. (sport is more a allround spring, h&r performanse is the realy low and stif once..) Front wear is normal, and the rear is the problem.. Since no one sees any downside whit campershims i think ill give him a call and have him make som for me... Guess the only way to find the dimenstions is to take apart the hole thing...? The ford program doesn't have the mesurements between this screws...?

What you do is measure your camber angle. Then you can work out how thick the shim has to be to get your tyre flat to the floor again. Washers can also work but the shim in the picture is much better as it will spread the load. There is places in the U.K & U.S.A that make the same kind of shims.

The older shape Granada Scorpio had electrically-pumped self-levelling suspension on some of the hatchbacks. There's a possibility, if you find one, that you may be able to transfer it to the Scorp. Alternatively fit some self-levelling dampers which should put the ride height and camber back to spec. Monroe make some but I'll bet there's others around too. Of course, all this assumes that the rear of the car is riding too low; the wheels go from |--o--| to /--o--\ as the rear end sinks. If the ride height is correct then you've got other problems. New tyres today...!! (And a car wach & wox) emptied my visa today... My mechanic friend are going to make the cambershims later this autumn... /--o--\ - it doesnt show on the car, but that is the problem... the wear was on the inside before the H&R springs, so im not supriced, but the cambershims will fix it

You also loose grip. By putting the shim in it corrects the angle & everything is good again. Yeah lots & lots of lowered Fords have these fitted' if thats the case, then why do it?

| Do what.? lower the scorp or mount shims.? not lots & lots, i had never heard about it before... But, yes, it will corect the angle of the tyre, and give normal wear...

Grand Turismo driving..? (if its called that..) As said the H&R sport is more a replacement spring then a lowering spring, but my rearend droped more then i had expected, front wear is actualy perfect now. I drive many long distance trips, and the comfort & feeling of the H&R springs makes it all worth it... But the inside tyrewear is a probem, but now i have the solution.. As Howie said : measure how much the camber is out & get a shim made to correct it...

hey all lowering a car can have more good effects then just visual it lowers the center of gravity so the car wont roll as much round corners, even less if u fit stiffer shocks aswell but then ride quality reduces 'cuz u'll feel the bumps matt

Guys when I say lots & lots I don't mean all Scorpio's. The Sierra, granada & Escort Cosworth use the same type of rear suspension & if they are lowered for what ever reason then shims are used to corrent the rear camber. All these cars together is lots & lots
