pmsl

personally i think the rear is the best looking bit of the scorp, very american, reminds me of buicks.
but it is personal choice, i dont of any nor have i seen any with ironing boards (spoilers) fitted.
the problem is, how big would the spoiler have to be to change the look? and would it detract the look of the rest of the car?
the boot lid shape has the beginings of a spoiler, you might find something to fit and extend that, but i just dont think it would look right.
what i like about the cossie is there's nothing to really suggest whats under the hood, bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing.

well done on getting a low mileage one  Grin

Here is a link which may help you. I feel too that these cars are best left plain (less trouble from the boys in blue that way) but your car and your taste, good luck Wink. The shape of the Scorpio has grown on me hugely over the years, I happen to like (cough) big (cough) bottoms Cheesy.

Welcome aboard Smiley.

Slightly off topic, but yes, the boys in blue seems to completely ignore the scorpio. Was going to pick some friends up at a bar and the boys in blue seemed to talk to every single driver parked outside, except me. Just walked right past  Grin

That's cos they are such posh looking cars.

PLEASE don't 'spoil ' it V4 Max.

I PROMISE you, the rear of the car will grow on you.
My daughter HATED mine when I first got it, but now she reckons it's really classy and certainly years ahead of its time....which WE on here, all knew anyway.

You've got a Cossie  You don't NEED to put a spoiler on it. Just hammer the stupid boy racers at every opportunity...........you'll love it  Grin

Enjoy your car, and enjoy the forums. Welcome!!  Smiley

Is the mane objective of a spoiler not to give more down force and stability?
One thing is for sure the wifes rear has plenty down force but if she asks who said that I will ofcourse deny everything.
As for the styling my car and wife cost me a fortune in that department Grin Grin Grin

When young thought spoilers were 'cool' but could never afford one - now I look at them and think what a waste of money.  The fob boot-release is a really useful feature on Scorp - spoiler would effect this and I am not sure if the tension in the springs could be adjusted enough to compensate.  Could even have to hold the boot up all the time when accessing - or have to use a piece of wood to prop it up!  A remote that could open/close the Mrs' mouth - now there's a thought!

the down force was what i was looking for as well as the looks. my car feels unstable at high speed.(120+)  it feels like its floating on air every thing is standard on the car right down to tyres that ford fitted as standard with according to the book correct tyre pressures, shocks are new alround, anyone else have this problem? any suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks john.

John Its a very heavy car,
To be honest a spoiler that would look good on this car would not offer anything in the way of down force that would make a difference.and as for fealing unstable at 120mph how often do you intend to do these speads?
yes most of the members will have done these speads in their scorps but in my opinion there isn't going to be one who wants to make modification to help sustain them!
Sorry to sound negative mate but this is just my opinion Smiley
And by the way welcome to the best car forum on the net Wink

your right cossie al. i dont intend do do those speeds all the time. but you know how it is  52 year old bloke 1st cossie had it 4 days just had to give it a thrash to see what all the fuss was about, did`nt expect to have to change my pants when i got home. besides whats the point in having a car capable of a 130+ if you cant use it without crapping yourself.

Point taken mate,
I used to have a 1988 4x4 sierra saphire cosworth thats where I picked up the nick name cossie Al and in a way I was lucky it was nicked when it was because my liscence would have been taken from me if ever I was caught 'playing' with it.
Having said that the scorp cossie offers so much more comfort and refined motoring with a little less power.
All in all it suits me now I am at the ripe old age of 35 Grin Grin Grin

It's a road car, trade-off between high speed stability and comfort on normal roads. Get into a Ferrari and you'll get a sore butt driving down the average road, get into a Roller and you'll have comfort but it'll handle like a soggy sponge.

The Scorpio is a capable car, take your average rep saloon at those speeds and afterwards the Scorpio seems to stick to the road like glue. You could improve the high speed stability with stiffer, lower suspension and the like but you'd crap up the ride quality.

At 125 mph, my little scorp seems to be glued on the road, instead in the 90-110 interval it wanders like a boat  Tongue

you could do what baz did and spray dark tint on the rear lights and chrome ...or source a face lift rear from an r or s plate.....
