My air-con pump is leaking from the seal around the middle of the outer casing. Is it possible to get a new seal, or can it be bodged up with a bit of instant gasket or Quick Steel. Has anyone tried it?

hi there yes (i think so). mines was doing the same. never had time to fix it, so it died a slow death (seized). my air con guy said you can strip them down, but it would be easier to find a replacement, as i've done. you could try this i tried it, but mine was too far gone for it to work. did get a 500 mile trip out of it before it went empty.

Had a look at the Ebay stuff & rang my air-con bloke. He said don't even think about it, it will eventually clog up the whole system. So won't go down that road

There seems to be a few of these products available on the market. Although I trust my air-con bloke in what he says, it's my car & it's down to me to get it fixed with the least amount of hassle & as little cash as possible. Has anyone ever used any of these products & do they actually seal the system permantly, or do they just clog it up?

hi there not sure what he means about cloging the system up. it just swells the seals up to fill in the the gap. might have an effect on the expansion valve, not sure. as i said, i've tried it, but it didn't work for me as mine was leaking badly for at least a year (did a silly mod on the system ). mines all sorted now (2nd hand compressor) and regas. no leaks were found, so it might have worked on the system (not the compressor). if you can find a compressor, i'd change that first. not too hard to fit, easier if someone holds it for you! if you can't find one, then try it. might just do the trick. only my opinion, though.

The compressor that is in it is a second hand one that I bought off a member on here, about 4 months ago. I think I will look for another one. Thanks for the advice scorpio man
