Testing the Alarm

Is there a simple way of testing the alarm on my car?

Scorpio 2.9 12V 1996.

I 'assume' that there's one fitted, but have never heard it sound, so as the dark night creep in and the scroats creep out, I'd just like to satisfy myself that it actually works.

SD. I've not tried this but how about holding down the bonnet alarm switch with a heavy object and then double locking the car. Removing the weight should trigger the alarm. Easier still get someone to hold the switch down while you lock the car and then release it. Let us know if it works!. Wink

Since my scorp has an aftermarket system and doesn't have that switch, it is probably it.

Yes that's the one. If you look above it,on the underside of the bonnet you'll see the part which sits on it ,when the bonnet is closed, to depress the plunger. The 'alarm' horn by the way is behind the battery.
