A few problems...

Hi, i've just bought a 96 2 litre ultima saloon.
the guy gave me a dimming mirror but the bracket seems to be broken. it just doesn't fit. and secondly, the cd changer has no output even though the stereo recognises the disc... radio and cassette are fine.
and just now, the puddle lights and interior lights have stopped working. does anyone know where the fuses are? and also the noise when you press the auto gerstick button doesn't go away. unless its in P. the error is intermittent but it does get VERY ANNOYING!

sorry to go on, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!!  Grin Grin Grin

Hello and welcome  Grin

The gearstick noise is likely to be the drivers door switch, it warns you if the cars not in P when you open the door.

Fuses are under the bonnet below the windscreen, one at either side of the car.

Mirror either has a broken bracket or is the wrong kind??

Not sure about your cd problem, does it show a  code?? are your cd's ok? head needing cleaned?

Check the power saver fuse, 36 in the Auxiliary fuse box.
When that goes the interior lights don’t work & you get a continuous tone when you press the button to move out of park.

You could get 17"s factory fitted, but I believe someone on here has 18"s

Hello mate and welcome Smiley. I was 19 when I bought my Scorpio so you are not alone in this world.

Firstly, with the rear view mirror. There are problems with the auto dipping ones (ones with the switch on), the fluid can leak out and destroy the plastic trim below (look back for threads mentioning 'alien blood'). If the mirror has any dark spots or you can see any oil sloshing about inside, dump it and get another Wink

With the door buzzer, as Highlander said, also check if any of the red door symbols come on in the dash when it happens.

Same with the interior lights, if the power saver fuse is ok then check the door switches.

Regarding rims, does it have the phonedials or the 12 spokes fitted? Problem with larger rims is that the tyre profile has to get lower and lower, killing the ride quality. Its all a matter of taste but I'd leave well alone, the 16" 12 spokes with the 225/50 boots would be the largest I'd go and compliment the shape of the car nicely.

Regards, Bruce Smiley.
