windscreen washer stinks

hi dont laugh never had this problem before getting the scorpio every time i wash the windscreen it smells really bad i have emptied the bottle and refilled with unipart screen wash and it still smells off, as your driving along and wash for about 15 seconds it smells like a sewer

I would try and empty it again, flush through the system with some anti bacterial washing fluid, then clean water and last fill it up again with screen wash.

Ah, I wonder if this car once belonged to a person ( male, naturalmont ) who was so lazy he was not averse to topping up the washer bottle with some of his ahem, own fluid if you get my drift.

i had this problem, i used to fill mine up with a watering can, with no problems until one day my washers started to smell, stripped it all down flushed it all out smell gone topped it up a week later smell back. to cut a very long story short my cat had started using the watering can as a toilet.

Not heard of that for years as a youngster that was a favourite trick of a mate of mine whenever he got chance he would relieve himself into the washer bottle. normally other peoples cars of course. and as for the cat I'm sure something could be set up with a small 12v battery an ignition coil and an HT lead that could be housed inside the watering can
