Engine Type?

Hi everyone,
I'm sure this must have been asked before (probably many times) and I'm sorry to ask it again but . . . .

What's the difference between the 'BOA' and 'BOB' engines?

Thanks to all in advance.

I don't know the answer, but this site may well help you.

It is a good site to supplement this one. All about Ford Engines/Power etc etc.

Well alot more than you think probably & far too much to list really.

Basics are:

Engine management
Inlet
fuel rail
Heads
Block
Crank
Cam timming gear
Camshafts
Thermostat
& more  Grin

But most of it can be swapped around between engines with some minor mods Wink

Is there a simple way of identifying wich version I have?
I'm about to undertake a head overhaul and don't want to get wrong gaskets etc.

Easy..

If you have a black plastic engine cover with COSWORTH 24V it's a BOB.. If you have an aluminium Plenum with two Cosworth badges it's a BOA..

All scorpios BOB
All Granada's BOA

Basically if you have a Granada (up to 1995) its a BOA, if its a Scorpio (1995 onwards) its a BOB.

Thanks Dave & TT for making it so simple.
Mines definately a BOB ('95, Scorpio), which is good 'cause that's the only gasket set my local supplier can find me.

You should also do plenty of homework on the engine befor you start as if its your first top end job any mistake you make on this engine may well cost you big time! There is loads of info on the main site inc. the full manual!
