Water drips

Ive found that when it rains & i open my bootlid water drips from iether side (inside corners)of the rear light strip across the bottom of bootlid,if it dont go down my neck it drips into boot making it damp !! Im betting that im not the only one so if it ever stops raining i may take a look or has anyone got an answer??

I remember a long, long time ago someone on the site used silicone sealant inside the rear light cluster ( the one on the boot lid) to stop the ingress of water behind it which is where it apparently comes from. worth looking into again if you have the time but it IS a a well know fault.

Yes i thought silicone might be an answer as it does seem to be from behind the light,when we get a dry day i shall have a look

A small tip also, the boot lid has 4 small drain holes. My scorp had a factory defect, the holes wheren't properly cut, so i drilled them myself, the only problem was that i really had a lot of water staying in there and i got some rust on that zone. Now with the holes done, not so much water staies in there.....

It's just the design of the lid, when it's fully raised water drips off the two corners and onto your boot carpet..
The secret is to not open it fully I suppose.

Ok today was dry so thought i would take a look,i removed the light strip & found two problems ~along the top of the light is a rubber seal,then another one at each end down the sides (3 in total)but between the top one & the side ones is a 2-3mm gap ! this is then made worse by the second problem~the boot lid SKIN is finished along the top edge of the light & the lip is a good 15mm( the lights top rubber,seals to this) but not for about 18mm at each end as the lip is only about 3mm so the water can get into the gap between the rubbers on the light !!I cleaned both the light & boot & put a dob of black silicone on both light & boot corners,refit light job done.I know it wont stop water on the boot lid dripping in but it was the water that was in the bottom of the light unit that was the cause of the problem!
