Sill Protection

Hi Chaps 
I have just spent the last few days undersealing and cavity sealing the underneath and have noticed should any anyone wish to cavity seal the 'box' section between the outer sill and the floor pan (the section where the jacking points are welded to) then access to this is easy. Looking on the inside of the start of the rear arch from underneath (not inside the wheel well) vertically opposite the lower rear arm you will see a grommit, this will allow access to section and the sill.
I have always found that rear jack point is especially prone to fatigue due to the poor way in which this section is constructed when used to lift the vehicle, because of this I always use a trolley jack elsewhere.
At the front Ford have already drilled a hole just behind the jacking point on the sill base looking up from the floor. Also check to see if the drain/vent holes from the outer sill are clear

My Granada had a rust bubble there, but no perforation, when I bought it five/six years ago. I simply splodged a good soaking of old used engine oil into both sills and left it with newspaper underneath to drip for a while. The bubble got no worse after that
On the subjet of rust, my car and motorbike spend a great deal of their time just sat in the garage. Use either, get them wet and they can sit for days still wet in there. I started using a dehumifier in the garage to help suck the moisture out of it and it works a treat. Just set it on the minimum and leave it, minimum as in switch off before all the moisture has been sucked out of the air.
The Scorp received a good soaking last night - this morning it was bone dry. The dehumidifier had a gallon of water in its collection bowl and had shut off.

You should also waxoil the fuel tank & up in the panel behind the rear bumper & around the rear chassis (spring mountings)all easy to miss ,i also put grease on the inside lip of the rear wheel arches & top up once a year.
