Wheel refurb ideas

Hi, seriously looking at having my wheels refurbed, I like the 12 spoke 16's on my cossie and don't really want to go to 17's. The question I have is do I stick to the original silver finish or I was thinking about maybe having them done in black(My car's Aubergine) any thoughts/ideas/ opinions? Has anyone got black alloys on their dark car if so does it work? Guy.

Keep 'em silver, wacky colours like black or gold look awful IMO, more so on a big car like the Scorp. Nicest thing on a dark saloon are nice silver wheels. Don't get me wrong mate but a Scorpio isn't a boy racer motor and doesn't look good with mods like that . One of mine has some kerb marks on the rim but they look too good otherwise to mess with, if it's only small marks the refurb kit you can get form Halfords does the job well for a tenner, or you can clean the dirt out of any gouges with a glassfibre pen and lacquer the gouge, barely notices... The original chrome 12's looked great but seems like they had some problems with finish, seen many a Mondeo with badly stained/pitted chrome alloys, shame because they look lovely... Regards, Bruce.

My preference is for the silver/chrome wheels too. my mate put black alloys on his clio, and I just think it looks like it has steel wheels now

you could always have them chromed and have the bling look (and ford also supplied the 12 spokes in chrome so no one would think any diffrent) matt

| Oh crikey Blasphemy hmmm... Serious thought though, I toyed with the idea a while back of having the Scorpio resprayed Metallic Roman Bronze, would look nice with a pumice interior, not sure what others' opinions would be on this though Saw a Jag (ever the Jag nut ) in Roman Bronze once, 1994 6.0 Sovereign XJ12; way, way above my price range (about £12 grand ) but the only one I'd ever seen in that colour, I thought it looked lovely Regards, Bruce.

| Bleedin' cheek Seriously toying with the idea of robbing a bank to raise the funds to get the Scorpio resprayed bronze... Bronze or pearlescent white. Any opinions on a fantasy Scorpio colour chart? Any colour anybody would like to see one painted in? Regards, Bruce. Duo-tone powder pink/lime green anyone?

One thing that Ford do really well are decent looking alloy wheels. My original ultima had the telephone dial alloys which I swapped for 12 spokes which look the nuts. Keep em silver and original imo. Paul

it is indeed, although a rather modified one, i think they are one of the best looking cars ever and the engine note aint bad either. That paint would suit the rounded body of the scorpio to a tee if it wasnt for the silly insurance prices (£5000 +) id be driving one of them round instead of my cossie wheels are to common, the BBS Y spoke has been around for ever matt

| Maybe that's because in my humble opinion they're great lookers and suit so many cars. Would have them on the cossie in a flash. Guy.
